In a powerful display of compassion and national unity, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated a whopping ₦1 billion to assist victims of recent violent attacks in Plateau State.
The donation was made on Thursday, July 3, 2025, during her official visit to the Government House in Jos.
Speaking at the presentation, the First Lady made it clear that the gesture was motivated by love for the country, not political ambition.
According to her, the funds were raised through her Renewed Hope Initiative and were not drawn from public treasury.
“This donation is a heartfelt gesture from the Renewed Hope Initiative. It is born out of love, not politics. My desire is to see our people safe, happy, and united,” she said.
Clearly emotional, Mrs. Tinubu expressed sadness over the continued violence in the state, saying it was heartbreaking that such bloodshed still plagued communities in Nigeria. She declared this would be her last visit in such a tragic context — if peace returns for good.
The First Lady urged traditional rulers, community leaders, and local men to take greater responsibility for ensuring peace in their communities.
She reminded them that government officials may come and go, but the people remain the custodians of their land.
Her speech was deeply symbolic, referencing Nigeria’s recently revived second stanza of the national anthem and the words of a young child who called Plateau “the land of peace and tourism.” She said she believed those words were prophetic and prayed that lasting peace would return to the region.
Present at the event were several dignitaries, including the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who praised the First Lady’s courage, compassion, and unwavering support.
Also in attendance was Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, who highlighted the Renewed Hope Initiative’s impact across multiple states in Nigeria.
With this bold intervention, Oluremi Tinubu has once again shown that leadership driven by empathy can make a real difference in times of crisis.
Her message was loud and clear: healing Nigeria begins with love, not politics.
