In a bold move to tackle youth unemployment and boost digital entrepreneurship, the Ogun State Government has announced a strategic partnership with leading tech organization Cybervilla (Cybersquad) to train hundreds of young people across the state in smartphone and electronic device repair.

The initiative, which is completely free of charge, is part of the government’s broader plan to equip Ogun youths with practical, in-demand skills that will help them become self-reliant in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

The three-month intensive training program will cover a range of technical skills including:

Smartphone diagnostics and repair

Laptop and device maintenance

Soldering techniques

Sales and customer service strategies

Business startup support

According to the organizers, the program will take place at Ogun Tech Hub in Abeokuta, and is open to young people aged 18 and above, regardless of educational background.

The training will be hands-on, and all successful participants will receive professional toolkits and materials to help them kick-start their own repair businesses after graduation.

Speaking on the partnership, Cybervilla CEO, Ifeanyi Adirika, praised the Ogun State Government’s commitment to youth development:

“This is not just about training—it’s about giving young Nigerians a shot at independence, purpose, and prosperity. With these skills, they can earn daily, grow small businesses, and even train others in their communities.”

Registration is currently ongoing and will close on May 15, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to register through the Ogun State Bureau of ICT’s official portal or via Cybervilla’s website.

The training will officially commence on May 19 and run through July 31, 2025.

This initiative is part of a larger drive by the Ogun State administration to foster innovation, reduce poverty, and bridge the skills gap in the tech space—especially among underserved communities.

With the demand for mobile device technicians and digital solutions skyrocketing, Ogun youths now have a rare chance to gain practical knowledge that leads directly to income.
