Popular Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has weighed in on the escalating marital crisis between Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, urging the younger actress to put her safety and mental health above public perception or material comfort.
In a heartfelt video shared on October 19, 2025, Jegede directly addressed Daniels’ situation, stressing that “no amount of money, cars, or luxury is worth enduring violence.” She condemned online trolls who have mocked Daniels’ alleged abuse because of her husband’s wealth, calling their reactions “cruel and tone-deaf.”
“People should stop judging a woman’s pain because she once flaunted wealth,” Jegede said. “Whether rich or poor, abuse is abuse. Regina should prioritize her life over image — nothing is worth losing yourself for.”
Her remarks came shortly after Daniels accused Nwoko of repeated domestic violence, releasing snippets of damaged household items as evidence. The 67-year-old senator, however, fired back, alleging that his 27-year-old wife was battling drug and alcohol addiction, claiming her “violent outbursts” caused the chaos. He denied ever laying a hand on her and urged “continued rehabilitation” instead.
The situation has since spiraled into one of Nigeria’s most discussed celebrity controversies, drawing millions of views across X and Instagram within hours.
Online reactions remain deeply divided. While a section of users mocked Regina for what they called “reaping from a luxury-driven marriage,” others echoed Jegede’s plea for empathy, pointing to Nigeria’s alarming domestic violence statistics, where over 30% of women have faced physical or emotional abuse, according to a 2023 WHO report.
Supporters praised Jegede for speaking up, describing her as “a rare voice of conscience in Nollywood.” Others accused her of exploiting the viral scandal for attention.
Regardless of the divided opinions, Jegede’s message cuts through the noise: “Regina needs healing, not humiliation. If she’s in danger, the internet won’t save her — leaving might.”
The unfolding saga continues to dominate online conversations, underscoring the fragile intersection of fame, marriage, and mental health in Nigeria’s celebrity culture.
