Raye outcry as NYSC Member Alleges Certificate Denial After Criticizing Tinubu Administration

Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has sparked debate over freedom of speech in Nigeria after revealing she was denied her NYSC certificate despite completing her mandatory one-year service.

Raye previously made headlines after publicly criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration over rising living costs. Allegations soon surfaced that her service year had been extended as punishment — claims the NYSC officially denied.

In a recent update, Raye stated that while she has concluded her service obligations, she has not received her NYSC discharge certificate. The certificate is a key requirement for many formal jobs and postgraduate studies in Nigeria, making its absence a significant professional setback.
