Many residents of Ifon-Osun and Ilobu communities in Osun State have been left homeless as houses were set ablaze in a renewed communal clash.

The violence, which erupted again despite previous efforts at peace, has resulted in significant destruction of properties and displacement of residents.

SaharaReporters obtained videos showing buildings engulfed in flames, vehicles reduced to ashes, and streets littered with debris.

Witnesses report that this is the eighth violent outbreak between the two communities in just 18 months, with at least 30 lives lost in the ongoing crisis.

Among the casualties is a former councillor from Ifon Orolu, identified simply as Azeez.

According to sources, Azeez was confirmed dead at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, early on Friday.

Although the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear, residents fear the violence could escalate further.

Eyewitnesses recount the harrowing events that unfolded as armed groups stormed residential areas, setting homes ablaze and forcing families to flee.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, described the scene as one of \"pure horror,\" with people running for their lives and thick smoke covering the sky.

In the aftermath, charred remains of homes, destroyed shops, and abandoned streets tell the story of yet another devastating communal crisis.

As tension continues to rise, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has strongly criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for what they describe as his failure to handle the situation effectively.

The APC has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, arguing that the state government lacks the political will to end the crisis.

Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC Director of Media and Information, accused the governor of neglecting his responsibility to ensure peace and security in the state.

He stated that previous efforts by the Adeleke administration to resolve the dispute had been ineffective, resulting in repeated outbreaks of violence.

Olabisi extended condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones, emphasizing that the ongoing crisis is a reflection of poor governance.

He further alleged that Governor Adeleke\'s failure to act decisively was due to his ties with individuals responsible for the violence.

According to the APC, some of those fueling the crisis are members and chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party accused the governor of enabling crime by surrounding himself with individuals with questionable backgrounds.

It pointed to Olamilekan Emir Ajagungbade, an appointee of Adeleke, who is facing charges of murder, terrorism, and armed robbery.

Another individual mentioned is Nurudeen Alawonle, who was reportedly arrested with a serviced police pistol.

Additionally, Kazeem Oriade, the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to the governor, has been accused of leading violent attacks over land disputes.

Olabisi argued that if Governor Adeleke was serious about ending the violence, he would distance himself from such figures and take stronger action to restore peace.

He questioned whether the governor was intentionally allowing the bloodshed to continue or if he was simply incapable of handling the crisis.

The APC insisted that if Adeleke could not contain the violence, he should seek external assistance from the federal government.

They urged President Tinubu to deploy security forces to take control of the situation before more lives are lost and properties destroyed.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has responded to the accusations, stating that he has ordered immediate security operations to restore calm in the affected areas.

A statement from his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, revealed that the governor has instructed security agencies to increase their presence in the region.

Additionally, he has urged the peace committee mediating the dispute to revive peace talks between Ifon and Ilobu leaders.

Despite these assurances, residents remain skeptical about the government’s ability to prevent further outbreaks of violence.

Many fear that without a concrete resolution to the underlying boundary disputes, the crisis will continue to resurface.

For now, displaced families are left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, as the embers of destruction continue to smolder across Ifon and Ilobu.

With political tensions rising and accusations flying, all eyes are on the federal government to see whether decisive acti

on will be taken to bring lasting peace to the troubled region.
