A student nurse at the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, has been issued a query for posting a video on social media regarding the official visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Asaba.

The student, identified as Osato Edobor, allegedly shared a video on TikTok that captured a moment where nurses did not refer to the First Lady as their \"mother\" during her arrival at the Dome Event Center, Asaba.

The event was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where 10,000 professional kits, including Crocs and scrubs, were distributed to midwives in each geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

According to the query issued by the school authority on March 27, 2025, Osato Edobor was accused of engaging in a \"malicious act\" by recording and posting an unofficial response to a song performed during the First Lady’s arrival.

The school cited this action as a violation of the Student Handbook, specifically under the standardized disciplinary action for punishable offenses, No. 8 on page 21.

The letter directed the student to provide a written explanation in triplicate copies within 24 hours, justifying why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.

While the exact content of the video remains unclear, social media users have expressed mixed reactions to the situation.

Some have defended the nurse, arguing that the punishment is excessive for simply sharing a video, while others believe that students in professional fields should be mindful of what they post online.

The incident has sparked a wider debate on the regulation of social media usage among students and professionals, particularly in government-related events.

As of now, Osato Edobor has not made any public statements regarding the query, and it remains to be seen what disciplinary measures the school may take.

This development raises questions about the extent of control institutions should have over students’ online activities, especially when it involves public figures and official events.
