Former President Muhammadu Buhari has been laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, following his passing on Sunday at the age of 82. The late statesman was buried according to Islamic rites in a private ceremony attended by family members, close associates, and top political figures from across the country.

His body arrived Daura early this morning under tight security, accompanied by a solemn convoy of federal officials and members of the Presidential Guard. The funeral prayers were conducted at the Emir\'s Palace Mosque shortly before noon, led by prominent Islamic clerics and witnessed by a sea of mourners who gathered to bid farewell to the former military leader turned democratically elected president.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several state governors were among those who paid their last respects, describing Buhari’s death as “the end of an era.” Tributes have continued to pour in from world leaders, regional allies, and prominent Nigerians, acknowledging Buhari’s decades-long role in shaping the country’s political and security landscape.

The late president, who ruled Nigeria as a military head of state from 1983 to 1985 before returning to power as a civilian in 2015, spent much of his post-presidency in Daura, living a quiet and secluded life while remaining a revered figure among his supporters.

Buhari is survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, children including Zahra, Yusuf, and Noor Buhari—whose emotional tribute went viral Monday—and a legacy that continues to polarize national sentiment.

As the sun set over Daura, chants of \"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji\'un\" echoed through the air, closing a historic chapter in Nigeria’s leadership. Though opinions on his presidency remain divided, there is no doubt that Muhammadu Buhari leaves behind a legacy that will long be remembered—both in praise and in reflection.

May Allah grant him Aljanah Firdaus.
